Douglas Electric Cooperative is fortunate to be able to purchase low-cost, reliable, renewable power from the Federal Columbia River Hydro System. The Bonneville Power Administration has been meeting the needs of northwest consumers for over 80 years. We are also blessed to have a renewable resource of this magnitude, to back up wind, solar and other valuable, but less reliable energy sources. The pie chart represents the “mix” of energy resources purchased by Douglas Electric Cooperative for our members.
What else does this mean? It means that at least 97% of the power used by Douglas Electric Cooperative members every day, comes from non-carbon-emitting resources. As an added bonus... the Coffin Butte Resource Project in Corvallis, of which Douglas Electric Cooperative members have a vested interest, has been producing electricity from landfill gas for over 25 years.
